How we do it
Whatever the situation, they key to a successful engagement is to ensure we produce high quality, reliable management information, and we work with clients to ensure processes exist to make this happen. If we already act as accountants this part is likely to be in the bag. But we do work with clients who have their own finance team or who perhaps use other accountants. Where this is the case, we take the lead to ensure the information you need is produce routinely and in a timely manner.
By using technology, we spend less time on producing the numbers and more time adding value by developing meaningful insight and actionable plans. We help clients visualise data and the connections to goals and actions needed to achieve those goals. Business planning and forecasting is always real-time because we use theright platforms and we can build scenarios and model the outcomes of decisions on the fly.
Advice is at the heart of everything we do.
However, those clients with particular needs such as growing their business, dealing with challenging times or planning to exit, appoint us to provide more regular help and advice.
We offer mentorship and business advisory services as well as more structured engagements as part-time finance directors.
Before joining Zest, Steve who heads our Finance Directors (FD) division served in various FD and senior management roles in many businesses from global companies like Siemens through to owner-managed businesses. He has also worked in a raft of different sectors that include technology, manufacturing, professional services and logistics. Currently Steve is engaged by clients in sectors that include consumer retail, public transport, B2B logistics, TV and film production, the food sector, and medical products.
Working beyond the numbers and helping clients think strategically about the future whilst in the short-term managing risks and taking advantage of opportunities, we adopt a logical and ordered approach to working with clients, offering insight, support, and healthy and respectful challenge to perhaps long-accustomed practices.

When and how we get involved
Depending on what is appropriate, our involvement can be as little as a day a month or a couple of days a week. We work with clients to provide flexible and appropriate solutions and we never tie clients into long-term commitments.
We can be involved on a flexible but on-going basis or our involvement can be limited to a specific project, perhaps around planning for growth, M&A and business exit, diligence, funding or business planning, or even a health-check on the current finance function or planning for succession within existing finance teams.
What we help with:
-
Business mentoring
-
Non-executive and part-time FDs and adding an extra pair of hands to your management team
-
Business planning, cashflows, financial forecasting and modelling
-
Funding
-
Helping you manage relationships with banks and other stakeholders
-
Pricing strategies
-
Profit improvement and growing your revenue
-
Helping you deal with challenging circumstances such as cash management and preservation, turning around under-performing businesses
